Dr. Wendy Lai

Born in Hong Kong and raised in Vancouver, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐖𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐢 started her dental journey as a 𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐲𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭 where she discovered her passion for dentistry. She graduated dental school at 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐬𝐲𝐥𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚 where she obtained her 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐬.

Missing the west coast, she returned to Vancouver and pursued her 𝐄𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 residency at the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐚 where she obtained her 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬. She is a 𝐃𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 and a 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐚. Her Master’s research was a microCT study comparing various obturation techniques.

𝐃𝐫. 𝐋𝐚𝐢 opened her own clinic, 𝐄𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 (@emergenceendodontics ) and practices in 𝐕𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐯𝐞𝐫. She is able to provide endodontic treatment under 𝐬𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (nitrous oxide, oral sedation) and has a special interest in treating 𝐩𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 and patients with dental anxiety. She also co-treats cases with other dentists under 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚.

Dr. Lai is a part-time 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫 at the UBC Faculty of Dentistry Graduate Endodontics Program. She is fluent in English, 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐞, and conversational 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧.
